After losing the defamation trial against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, Amber Heardwas seen for the first time, flying to New York City in a private plane, although her lawyers insist that she has no money to cover the amount in damages that the jury has ordered her to pay the actor.
On the trip, Amber was accompanied by her sister Whitney and her assistant. She then returned to Washington D.C. by boarding a private plane again.
Heard’s low profile
Following her defeat in Fairfax, Virginia court, the actress has remained well under the radar. Heard must pay Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, although the judge reduced the second payment to $350,000 under Virginia law.
While the actress was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages, meaning the 58-year-old actor was owed $8.35 million.
Will Depp forgive Heard’s payment?
Johnny Depp’s lawyers, Camille Vasquez and Benjamin Chew, reported this week that the actor may waive his ex-wife’s payout after his legal team insisted she can’t afford it and would appeal the verdict.
Why did the actress go to New York?
It is unknown what the purpose of Amber Herd’s quick visit to New York was. In the photographs, she is seen walking around the Flatiron neighborhood with a team of people, including members of security, who accompanied her throughout the trip.
Her trip to the Big Apple may have been for work, as she was seen with a folder of documents in hand.
Another option is that the actress may have traveled to the Big Apple for an interview with a major network; both her legal team and Depp’s have appeared on screen in the weeks following the conclusion of the trial.
